Yes, I am in a relationship with the city of Boston. When I found out that I was going to get the opportunity to stay in Boston for the summer, the first thing that popped into my head was that I needed to take advantage of everything this historic and beautiful city has to offer. I immediately made a list of things I wanted to do for the next four months. And what better way to accomplish new and exciting things than with someone special by my side? That’s where Dan comes into play. I decided to turn this list into dates with both the city and my boyfriend.
These dates can be romantic or platonic, depending on your relationship status. With hectic work or internship schedules, it can be difficult to devote time to having fun, so this dedication to going on one new date a week will help me to keep a healthy balance while expanding my knowledge of the city. If anything, these dates are meant to provide entertaining opportunities that every Bostonian should take advantage of in the summer months.
Date number one: Concert at Comcast Center
I’ve always been a huge country music fan, so getting tickets to one of my favorite country stars, Brad Paisley, was a no brainer (thanks Dan for the birthday present!). The opening performers Lee Brice and Chris Young were an added bonus too.

Technically, this first date isn’t in Boston, so having access to a car is necessary. After a long, brutal ride in bumper-to-bumper traffic, we finally arrived at the Comcast Center just in time for the opener Lee Brice to start. Having never been to the Comcast Center before, it was not the typical concert venue I had expected: it was so much better. The entrance to the concert area was packed with little stands selling food and beverages. The entire set-up reminded me of an amusement park.
After walking past all of the stands and the swarms of people, the outdoor stage is literally a breathe of fresh air. Just like BC’s Modstock, the concert was outside. We found our seats in the 24th row with a pretty awesome view.

There’s something freeing about listening to country music under the starry sky. The three performers were amazing. With the biggest smile across my face throughout the entire concert, I heard and sang along to most of my favorite Brad Paisley songs. At one point when I was trying to go to the bathroom, Brad walked right by me to sing on a tiny stage in the middle of the venue. I thought I was going to die of excitement from being less than two feet away from him.

So close I could almost touch him!
I would have been content listening to Brad’s sweet voice serenade me all night long, but unfortunately it had to end. After an exciting encore, the concert was over and we returned back to Boston.
The experience of going to a concert is unforgettable. From now on whenever I hear a Brad Paisley song on the radio I’ll remember this date with Dan. No matter if you go with a significant other or a group of friends, the memories will last a lifetime. My first Boston concert was a huge success and I'm looking forward to the next one.

What makes the Gavel so BANGin’? The people, duh!
You have 24 hours to give prospective students a tour of BC and convince them to enroll. How do you spend the day? We would definitely go to a both a football and hockey game (we would win both games!). We’d take a quick walk around the Res, eat lunch at Hillside, and finish the day with a classic Mod party. There’s no way you wouldn’t come to BC after that!
If you could go back in time and give yourself a pep talk the night before you moved into BC as a freshman, what is the most important piece of advice that you would give to your former self? I would tell my self to branch out and not get stuck in one particular friend group. The friends you meet in orientation and during the first few months are great, but they might not be the friends you’ll have throughout the four years here. Be friendly and open-minded and everything else will fall into place!
What is your favorite study spot on campus? My bedroom. I can’t study anywhere but my bed.
What is your go-to meal at Late Night? Who doesn’t love the mozzarella sticks?!
What is the #1 most played song on your iTunes? Anything country.
If you could only eat at one restaurant for the rest of your life, which would you choose? Cheesecake Factory. I love any kind of pasta and dessert is my weakness.
If you could befriend the main characters from any TV show or movie, who would you choose and why? Blair Waldorf from "Gossip Girl" because she would make a fabulous shopping buddy.
