Boston College's new live eagle mascot will be named Welles, in honor of Boston College men's lacrosse player and victim in the September 11th New York City attack Welles Remy Crowther '99. After criticism from animal rights activists, the eagle has been flying free at home football games this year. The naming of the eagle pays tribute to the hero who lost his own life to save others. Gavel Media caught the Welles Crowther Red Bandanna 5k on October 19 benefiting the Welles Crowther Charitable Trust.Filmed by Cindy Chen. Interview by Victoria Sanchez. Edited by Amy Shuler.
