Harpoon Festival: Have a Little South Boston Fun

In the constant search to return to our abroad days, my roommates and I seek activities in and around Boston that make us feel a little more “European” for the day. This weekend was the 2014 Harpoon St. Patrick’s Day Festival, and although nothing can compare to Springfest in Munich, Harpoon Fest was definitely fun.

The festival was located in a large heated tent right outside the factory in South Boston and featured seven different Harpoon beers. With a twenty-dollar cover, the event was a bit pricy, but well worth it. If you signed up to be a Friend of Harpoon, you got into the VIP line and received a free drink ticket and a Harpoon cup that you got to keep.

Upon entering the tent, there was a live band that played a combination of Irish music and other popular tracks, but the highlight of this festival was easily the beer! They had three different IPA’s, their UFO White Beer, a shandy, a cider, and a stout. All in all, the event was a great time for friends to get together and have a little South Boston fun.

Both The Harpoon and Sam Adam’s Brewery have other wonderful events and factory tours that can be a great 21+ alternative to the usual Boston College scene. Next time you need an escape, consider what these breweries have to offer.
