Boston College Dining Services does so many wonderful things for students on campus. Employees not only stick around for emergencies due to weather and disasters like the Boston Marathon Bombing in 2013, but they also make daily strides to provide students with nutritious options for meals. Let’s be honest, though, even with all the amazing things done for us, sometimes we just don’t want to eat at the dining halls. With the record-breaking snowfall these last few weeks, the urge to order in gets stronger. Here are some brave restaurants that still deliver in this snowy madness.
Eagle’s Deli in Brighton, MA
Everyone knows about this BC breakfast staple, but not as many realize that Eagle’s Deli delivers. Their french fry, burger and sandwich menu is ideal for long, boring days stuck inside under piles of homework. Not to mention, you probably didn’t realize they have frappes, milkshakes, cabinets or whatever else your region calls them.
Bill’s Pizzeria in Newton Centre, MA
Bill’s isn’t just any run-of-the-mill pizza shop. They offer tons of exciting, interesting combinations as well as gluten-free options for the more sensitive eaters. Their more basic options are delicious, but if you’re feeling adventurous, try something like the Backyard Barbeque or Sweet Baby Thai with peanut glazed chicken.
Fin’s Sushi and Grill in Brighton, MA
Everyone knows and loves Fin’s, but who really wants to walk all the way there in this slush? Ordering delivery is an easier—and much warmer—solution. Sushi in your dorm room doesn’t sound like a bad snow day activity.
Comella’s Restaurant in Chestnut Hill, MA
This place is perfect if you and all your friends want to have a night in of delicious, family-style Italian food. Here, you order food by the “bucket”—it may not sound the most appealing, but it really just means by the tray. You certainly won’t regret it when you have tons of leftovers for the next inevitable snow day.
Johnny’s Luncheonette in Newton Centre, MA
This is another BC breakfast staple, but this restaurant strikes nostalgia in every Newton campus alumni. Don’t just order at breakfast time; organize a special, indoors breakfast-for-dinner with friends and make a night of it.
Bangkok Bistro in Brighton, MA
This place has all the Thai food options you could ever want. With such an extensive menu, you’ll be able to find something for everyone, including that one friend who claims to “hate” Thai food. They also have dessert options… you’re welcome.
So the next time you start to dread making that trek to the dining hall, don’t do it! Order delivery instead. If you start to feel guilty about it, just remind yourself that you’re helping out local businesses. Stay warm, and happy eating.
