Bomb Threat Reported at Lower Dining Hall, Students Safely Cleared from Area

UPDATE, 10:00 p.m.: A Hillside employee and BC student, citing anonymity, said workers were asked to return to Hillside to close for the evening before the threat was lifted. The same student reported that employees were forced to wait to enter the dining area while BCPD continued to clear the area.

UPDATE, 10:13 p.m.: BCPD has issued an all-clear notice for campus, informing the student body to resume activities as normal.

Boston College reported a bomb threat at Lower Dining Hall tonight around 7:37 p.m. All students were evacuated from the building and the adjacent Robsham Theatre. BC notified students via email and text message, as well as posting on Facebook and Twitter. They asked that all students shelter in place and avoid the area until further notice.

Sam Constanza, A&S '16, who was in Lower at the time of the threat, said that the evacuation was performed swiftly.

"A police officer came up to each table individually and in a very calm tone told us that there was a building emergency, and we had to leave immediately," she said.

At 8:10 p.m., BC sent out another alert asking students and employees to evacuate all dining halls on campus.

In an email to residents of Vanderslice Hall, Resident Director Erica Saviuk urged students stay in their rooms "given that the call came in anonymously."

The email also stated that the scene had yet to be cleared.
