RHA to Host ‘Christmas Catwalk’ for Charity Tonight

The Boston College Residence Hall Association (RHA) will be holding a ‘Christmas Catwalk’ tonight from 8:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Heights Room. Working with the Student Programming Committee, the RHA hopes to provide students the opportunity to commemorate the holiday season as they spend time with friends.

The Christmas Catwalk event will be split into two portions: the first portion is a show in which The Heightsmen, BC’s all-male a cappella group, and BC’s Synergy Hip Hop Dance Company are expected to perform. Members of each group will perform in ugly sweaters and will be followed by students who will model equally ugly sweaters for the audience.

After each performing group and individual is interviewed by the MC, James Green (MCAS ’17), students will be able to bid on and purchase the sweaters. Miniature Christmas trees will also be on sale. All proceeds will go to the Boston Rescue Mission, a multi-service organization that aims to move homeless and needy people out of poverty.

Models for the Christmas Catwalk include BC students Sarah and Katherine Swallow (MCAS '18), Elio Oliva (CSOM '17), the former winner of the Mr. BC competition, Jack Kelly (CSOM '19), the former winner of the Mr. Newton competition, and Nicholas Martin (LSOE '17).

Lauren Kaufman (CSOM ’18), one of the organizers of the program, asserts that the event will provide an outlet for students to enjoy themselves in the spirit of the holiday season.

“Overall, [the Christmas Catwalk] is a really fun event that goes toward a good cause. People are able to get ugly sweaters and miniature Christmas trees for auction, enjoy the holiday themed food, and have a good time with their friends before the semester ends!”
