Hillside and On the Fly Lounge to Be Open After Hours

Beginning on Feb. 1, Hillside Cafe and the On the Fly Lounge in McElroy Commons will be open from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

The spaces are intended to be used for "hanging out, group projects, and general student use," according to an announcement by UGBC President Russell Simons and Student Assembly Vice President Meredith McCaffrey at tonight's UGBC general meeting.

Boston College's 10-Year-Plan includes the construction of a 285,000 square foot student center, intended to replace the current Plex. In the meantime, however, Simons and McCaffrey wanted to create casual spaces for students to spend after hours, so they worked with Vice President for Student Affairs Barb Jones to make it a reality.

For students who wish to learn more about UGBC's efforts, the general meetings are open to everyone and occur every other Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in Fulton 511.
