For those Eagles who are still around Boston this summer, there’s a chance for Modstock redemption on City Hall Plaza Monday night.
Lil Nas X, the country rap pioneer behind “Old Town Road” and an endlessly entertaining Twitter feed, is performing on the plaza at 6 p.m. The concert precedes a Stanley Cup Game 1 watch party, hosted by the NHL and the City of Boston.
Chase Rice, the country star behind “Eyes on You,” “Gonna Wanna Tonight,” and “Ready Set Roll,” will also be taking the stage. Without Billy Ray Cyrus, Lil Nas X may be looking to Rice to fill in the whiter parts of his breakout single.
There are no tickets for the event, which opens at 4:30 p.m. There’ll be food trucks, and wine and beer for sale (for legal cowboys only). And since it is a watch party after all, huge screens will show the Bruins game when the puck drops at 8 p.m.
Even if you don’t give a yeehaw about “Old Town Road,” the Stanley Cup Final Party is a good place to watch the Bruins take on the Blues surrounded by thousands of Boston fans. That is, if you can’t afford the $600 starting price for seats at TD Garden.
Happiest during baseball season, while thinking about goats, and when a Pitbull song comes on in the club.
