Previous Team: Newhook played for the Victoria Grizzlies in the British Columbia Hockey League during the 2018-2019 season. He was also a BCHL First Team All-Star selection.

Taking Home the Hardware: He received the Vern Dye Trophy as league MVP and the Bruce Allison Memorial Trophy as BCHL Rookie of the Year.

Not Old But Gold: Newhook was the youngest scoring champion in the BCHL since the 1996-97 season.

Top Five: Newhook was ranked fifth at the IIHF Under-18 World Championships. 

Going Pro: The freshman was drafted 16th in the first round of the 2019 NHL Draft by the Colorado Avalanche.

Stats on Stats: In the 2017-18 season with Victoria, Newhook posted a 22-44-66 scoring line in 45 games. He had 38 goals and 64 assists in 53 regular-season games during his time as captain for the Victoria Grizzlies.
