Super Bowl 56. Rams vs. Bengals.
This year's edition provides a quite interesting matchup between two teams that almost no one thought would make it this far in the playoffs. The star-studded offense of the Rams will be a tough matchup for the Bengals defense, and Joe Burrow will face one of the best pass rushes the NFL has to offer in Von Miller and Aaron Donald. We can expect a high scoring game with the way both of these offenses are playing, so it will likely come down to whose defense can make more stops.
Below are the predictions from some members of the Sports section of The Gavel:
Jake McNeill
Rams 35, Bengals 29
Game MVP: Matt Stafford
For the first time in a while, I have no strong rooting interest or bias in the Super Bowl. Both teams are full of likable players with great storylines going into the game. Considering both teams are full of offensive firepower with defenses that have been inconsistent, I think it’s safe to expect a shootout. While Joe Burrow has been the best player in the playoffs this year, his time to hoist the Lombardi will come, but it’s not going to be this year. The dynamic duo of Stafford and Kupp are going to torch the Cincinnati secondary all night, with Stafford taking Super Bowl MVP primarily because of the QB bias typically present in the voting.

Rams 28, Bengals 24
Game MVP: Matt Stafford
This game provides such an interesting matchup on both sides of the ball, with two really likable teams. The improbable Bengals run is one for the ages, and Joe Burrow already looks like the next QB of the league with his outrageous performances this postseason. His connection with Ja’Marr Chase has the potential to demolish the AFC North for seasons to come. On the other side, Matt Stafford is one of the most likable QB’s in the league and has been stellar all season. The Bengals will take a late 24-21 lead, and it will come down to a last minute, meticulous fourth quarter drive by Stafford and the Rams to score a late touchdown to clinch their second Super Bowl in franchise history.

Rams 31, Bengals 27
Game MVP: Matt Stafford
Matt Stafford will be the game’s MVP, leading the Rams to their first Super Bowl victory in over 20 years. I think the combination of Aaron Donald and Von Miller are going to absolutely tear apart the subpar offensive line of the Bengals. Even though Joe Burrow and the Bengals are going to put up a fight, I don’t think they have enough star power on defense to keep the Rams in check.
