Why Gavelers are Voting Harris-Walz

As an occasionally joyful, at times miserable, always exhausting election season nears its end, members of The Gavel wrote to explain why they’re voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

‘The choice is clear.’

“My Dad is very similar to Tim Walz, so I feel a connection there. As for Harris, we connect since we’re both women, especially in a field that’s historically been dominated by men. There is simply more of a connection between Harris, Walz, and myself than there is between a convicted felon and myself.”

‘Disgust with Trump’

“Where do I begin? Even if you disregard his ignorant policy positions, he has actively talked about how he intends to be a dictator, and January 6th was evidence of such. His ignorance has the potential to cause unprecedented damage to not just the country, but the entire world. And his stances toward abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, low-income individuals, immigrants, and so on would do so much harm to so many marginalized groups. He will set our country backwards.”
