Our No. 12 ranked Boston College Eagles visited the Boston University Terriers Friday afternoon, looking to extend their momentum after going 5-2 in their last 7 games.

It didn’t take long for the Eagles to strike, with Gaby Roy scoring on a breakaway just 6 minutes in, assisted by Abby Newhook, who tallied her 22 point on the season, tied for second on the team. However, the Terriers responded quickly. After Cailin Flynn fanned on a puck, BU scored to tie the game at 1-1.

By the end of the second period, BU led 2-1.  Kiley Erickson (BC) and Riley Walsh (BU) were each sent to the box for interference and hooking. BU’s Kaileigh Quigg then found the back of the net to give the Terriers the lead.

The third period saw BC push back. Kate Ham scored early off a cohesive two-pass sequence, tying the game at 2-2. But in a goalie battle, it was BU’s Grace Campbell and BC’s Mari Pietersen who kept their teams in the running as they each saved over two dozen shots. With just minutes left, Riley Walsh scored the game-winner on a rebound after a save from Campbell, sealing the 3-2 victory for the Terriers.

With the loss, BC dropped to 17-9-1 on the season; losing the season series to BU 1-2.
